In a flash: World Youth Day 2011 will be held in Madrid, Spain from August 11 to 21, 2011. If you’re attending, have you already booked your hotel or villa to stay at for I’m not so sure whether there’s still any left for the said dates. Check out these luxury villas (villas in Spain) and if you’ll be staying there to socialize after the WYD, you better check this guide to Spanish wine.
Pope John Paul II -- the People's Pope and more popularly known for being the founder of the youth-oriented Catholic Church event and world pilgrimage World Youth Day -- has just been beatified and the whole world now regards him as the Blessed Pope John Paul II. His popemobile, the vehicle official vehicle that he used during the World Youth Day 1995 in Manila, has been making the rounds and my sister and her kids were lucky enough to catch it at the Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan.

The image above was taken from the BBC website but I'll replace it once I receive a copy of the photos taken by my nieces and nephews or once I scanned the photos I, myself, took when I attended the WYD 1995.
Going back to our topic, World Youth Day 2011 starts from August 11, 2011 but the WYD events proper only starts on August 16. Here's the schedule of events for delegates coming from different parts of the world.
TUESDAY 16
8:00 am Arrival at Madrid -- From the early morning, the pilgrims and groups registered in WYD will be able to collect their accreditation and backpacks in the places indicated by the organization.
8:00 pm WYD Opening Mass -- World Youth Day begins at 8 pm (provisional time) with a Mass in Madrid´s Cibeles Square, presided over by the archbishop of Madrid and concelebrated by the bishops and priests participating in WYD.
Earlier this month, China government leaders decided to ultimately ban the idea of time travel on TV and movie plots because the government leaders believe that the idea of distorting certain historical events, things and people is utterly disrespectful to the country’s history. The news hit the internet and suddenly we have something new to laugh about and the best part of it — it’s “made in China.”
Coincidentally, someone who’s watching a pirated copy of a 1984 film 2010: The Year We Make Contact, saw what could have been a 2008 Beijing Olympics poster hanging on a wall (see upper left corner on the image below) on one of the scenes in the movie.
At 21:33 — When Dr. Heywood Floyd stands in the doorway of his sleeping son’s room, on the wall to the left of his bed is a poster of an Olympic runner with the text “Beijing 08″ on the bottom. Considering the film was made in 1984, and the Olympic Committee did not chose Beijing for the Olympics until July 2001 is a fun example of life imitating art and background detail that came true.
Then suddenly, we’re all talking about conspiracy theories while trying to connect every little piece of information.
- In an attempt to erase the idea of time travel on their citizens, China bans time travel on Chinese movies and television.
- Liu Xiang, the super popular Chinese athlete during the 2008 Beijing Olympics is the first Chinese track and field gold medalist (who had to withdraw from the competition at the last moment after a false start and aggravation to a previously unrevealed injury), much to the dismay of all his Chinese fans.
- The poster in the movie shows a hurdler in red uniform.
- Apparently Beijing didn’t even begin bidding for 2008 until sometime after 1993 because they were originally shooting for 2000 and lost out to Sydney.
- Insert your own
nastyconspiracy theory here.
