Doraemon is sick
Doraemon is my Dell Vostro 1000 which I bought in China a year and a month ago. A year and a month means Doraemon is already out of warranty.
Recently, Doraemon has been showing symptoms of failure. The bottom accumulates heat faster than before which causes it to shutdown randomly. Doremon is running on an AMD Turion 64 X2 CPU. AMD processors are known to heat up faster as compared to Intel CPUs so I couldn’t blame Doraemon for heating up fast. But Doraemon’s frequent shutting down got both annoying and disappointing at the same time so I thought I could buy a cooling pad to lessen, if not totally remove, the heat build up on the bottom surface.
Yesterday, while in SM Manila, I checked CD-R King for two notebook cooling pad models with two and three cooling fans and priced at Php180 and P280, respectively. I was not sure if it was just related to their stocks but both models couldn’t even produce a decent amout of ventilation. I asked if I could check the other stocks so I could make sure but the sales lady just got mad at me because according to her, they’re all just the same. Of course, I went out of the store without buying anything.
I checked the other PC shops at the lower ground floor and I found this two-fan cooling pad priced at Php300 in PC Options. And just like what I did in CD-R King, I first tested the cooling pad if it’s working properly and after having tested it okay, I paid for it in the cashier counter. I forgot what model or brand this notebook cooling pad is since I had already discarded the carton box at my parents’ house in Manila.
It’s been more than a day since I’ve been working with Doraemon for long hours but it never heat up as much as before and there were no random power shutdowns anymore.
I hope this will back Doraemon’s health to normal and even extend it’s usual life span.
