Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate for Singapore
Those who are planning to go to Singapore to try their luck in finding a better career through direct application and hiring may now apply for an Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) which will give them the permit to stay in the country for a period of one year. This is better compared to applying for a tourist vista where you could only be allowed a maximum of two months.
The Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) allows foreigners who are i) holders of selected university qualifications, or ii) current or former holders of selected skilled migrant visas to stay in Singapore for up to one year to facilitate their job search in Singapore. Generally, if you have been granted an EPEC by MOM, you are likely to qualify for an Employment Pass upon securing employment in Singapore.
I got this information from a friend who’s currently working in Singapore and have been staying there for almost three years now. He called to follow up my plans to go to Singapore after I got fed up on this country. Anyway, I also have plans of moving to Singapore after China. At least there, my family and I can live easier since we won’t have to deal with the language barriers that made living in China extra difficult. And I do hope the “No direct hiring” policing of the POEA will not be pushed through.
