How to reach the Philippine Consulate General Office in Shanghai via Shanghai Subway Trains

The Shanghai Centre building at West Nanjing Road in Shanghai. It also houses the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Boteman lisikaerdun jiudian)

This is just one of the many subway exits in Jing’an Temple. The road to the left is West NanJing Rd. Go straight to Shanghai Centre.
If you don’t want to spend the rest of eternity hailing a taxi, take the subway. Taking the subway trains in Shanghai is very convenient even for foreigners as long as you know which stations you need to take on and off. The subway lines are color-coded so you could not get lost easily. Red is for Subway Line 1, Green for Subway Line 2, Purple for Subway Line 8, etc.
- From the Shanghai Railway stations, follow the arrow directions and proceed to Subway Line 1.
- Take Subway Line 1 to People’s Square Station.
- Take Subway Line 2 to Jing’an Temple.
- Upon exit, proceed to Nanjing West Rd. (it’s easy to see from the Subway exit) and walk towards east.
Additional tips:
- The cost in Shanghai is a little expensive so you might have your photos taken from your residing city to save a few bucks. 6 pcs passport sized photos in Shanghai (or at least in Fujifilm photo center near Shanghai Centre) cost 45RMB.
- Have the required pages photocopied in your office or elsewhere in your residing city because the photocopies in Shanghai Center cost 3RMB per page.
- If you get hungry, there’s a McDonald’s available along Nanjing West Rd. near the Paramount Theater or Burger King on the north parallel street. Unless you speak Mandarin or you want another language adventure, you should only eat at McDonald’s, KFC or Burger King because the local restaurants don’t have pictures on their menus. Speak in English, they should understand you. Else, point at the picture on the menu.
- Avoid being intimidated by those Chinese-speaking Americans or Europeans. They’ve been studying English since birth.
