Prelude to ignorance: Where is Shanghai Centre?
I’m leaving for Shanghai tomorrow to renew my Philippine passport. And since I’m not fluent with the Chinese language, I’ll be wandering aimlessly in the Shanghai roads again if I won’t prepare the necessary gears and equipments.
I know the Philippine Consulate General Office is located in the Shanghai Centre in Nanjing West Road. I know Nanjing West road, I’ve been there with my wife and daughter last year, but I’m not sure where exactly the Shanghai Centre is.
Anyway, to prepare for tomorrow’s journey, I called the Philippine Consulate Office in Shanghai today to ask for directions. The receptionist gave me the following instructions:
- Take a train to Shanghai Railway station.
- Take Subway Line 1 to People’s Square.
- Take Subways Line 2 to Jing’An Temple.
- Walk towards east, the Shanghai Centre is located near the Boteman building (Boteman lisikaerdun jiudian or Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai).
Knowing that the consulate office only accept passport processing between 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN, I’m afraid I won’t be able to reach the place on time if I’ll have to wander in the subways looking for directions so I thought I’ll just have to take a taxi from the Railway stations to save time. I’ll save the adventure for another time, maybe on my way to home. And if the driver won’t be able to understand me, I’ll just flash him this taxi card image from my cellphone. I still have to buy my train ticket this afternoon. I hope I could get the fast train ticket to Shanghai.

ang alam ko lang na shanghai yung lumpia hehe. siryusli, malaking balita dito sa nz yung nangyayari sa tibet ngayon. maraming mga patagong video na pinapakita na binubugbog ng mga tsekwa yung mga tibetan.

Yari ka, pag nalamang ikaw ang nagpakalat ng totoong balitang yan, ipapatapon ka nila sa Tibet. Remember the carton in the siopao incident? Palagay ko palabas lang nilang hoax yun at pinakulong yung original reporter para magmalinis. Nung una kala ko malinis talaga sila pero with the recent events, madumi pala talaga. Hahaha!
Nung minsan nakipagtalo pa ko kay housemate tungkol sa Tibet, sabi ko di ba parang excile city lang yun dahil nun nga nila pinatapon yung last na Dalai Lama at hindi pwedeng bumalik ng Mainland. Tingin ko nga madumi talaga sila sa gobyerno.

Draft palang ang nagagawa ko, umabot nga ng 1,500 words kaya hinati ko. hahaha! inaayos ko pa din yung mga pictures para maganda, siguro mamayang gabi o bukas ng umaga ang relase nung first part. Tapos aabot ako ng 3 or 4 posts siguro. explain ko lang yung subway system nila tsaka yung mga fast trains tapos may mga basang talulot series pa ko. hahaha!
excited na nga ako makapunta si misis dito para pag may chance punta kami ng beijing, hahaha! pero wag mo kong papuntahin dun sa olympics kung ayaw mong maging palaman ako sa hopia no.

maganda daw sa Shanghai?…naku bro dapat may dala ka interpreter baka kung saan ka pa dalhin…
kailangan ba talaga personal appearance jan kahit renewal lang. Dito sa US kami magpa renew pinapadala lang sa courier yun nga lang pagmawala lagot…

pare pareho lang yan, nung hinahanap ko din yung embassy ng pinas dito sa bonn, hindi ko makita. and it was my hubby who’s driving pa during that time ha. ilang beses kaming naligaw bago namin nakita, ganyan talaga yata location ng mga pinas embassies e, yung dapat mahirap hanapin, hehehe

hindi na pwede ngayon ang walang personal appearance. since lumabas yung new passport, kailangan may personal apperance na kahit dun lang sa pag-finger print.
