In our current household, most of the members are all Kapamilyas. From the time the television set turns ON until it was finally allowed to shut itself down, so it is by common knowledge that everything you could watch (or hear, in case you’re not looking) are all Kapamilya shows.

Last Monday (January 11, 2010) I overheard my wife and sister-in-law mulling over “Showtime” being temporarily replaced by “Magpasikat.” It was then that I realized that Osang’s previous remark (before she suddenly disappeared where she should had been sitting with the rest of the Showtime judges) about teachers has caused the show to be temporarily suspended by the MTRCB.

Here’s the Youtube Video showcasing Rosanna Roses’ nasty remark on teachers. On this same video, you could also watch how Vice Ganda defended the teachers. In his remark, he mentioned that just like there are good and bad actors and actresses, there are also so many good teachers even if there are some who are not.

I’m not sure if this is the same episode when Vice Ganda had to donate P25,000.oo (as well as Vhong Navarro) to a contestant who had knee injuries after joining another dance competition somewhere in Rizal. Vice Ganda said that no amount of praises would bring back the injured contestant’s knees unless someone pay for his hospitalization. And so he and Vhong Navarro donated P25,000.00 each for the contestant’s operation.

Meanwhile, Showtime suffers a 20-day suspension by the MTRCB from January 11, 2010 onwards.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE PREVENTIVE SUSPENSION OF “SHOWTIME”In the spirit of self-regulation, ABS-CBN removed Rosanna Roces as a judge in SHOWTIME after she made statements against the teachers in the January 7 live show. But despite this, MTRCB still imposed a 20-day preventive suspension for the program.

A preventive suspension is issued to stop further violations, if there were any committed, or for the interest or welfare of the public. Thus, the network questions the need for said preventive suspension when Rosanna Roces has already been removed from the program.

SHOWTIME is a highly entertaining show watched by many Filipinos. It helps promote and showcase the creativity and talent of kapamilyas nationwide, uplifts their spirit and provides opportunities to improve their lives.
