Up to date, the original Encantadia fantasy series is the best tv series I’ve ever followed in my entire adult life. Except, of course, the Jennilyn Mercado and Mark Herras love story part. I really loved the series because, despite its similarity to Lord of the Rings, the creators were able to put original elements and plot and the actors and actresses (well, mostly) were able to give life to the characters and story. Especially Pirena, bearer of the jewel of fire, is the main female protagonist and daughter of the previous queen of Lireo to the evil king of the Hathors. Despite her being the eldest among the four Sang-gres (daughters of Mine-a, queen of Lireo), she was not the one chosen to be the new queen. Because of this, she sided with her evil Hathor father and plotted for the downfall of her sisters. Of course, they failed and in the end, the youngest of the four Sang-gres, Danaya – bearer of the Earth jewel – was hailed the new queen.
Following the original plot, Encantadia had sequels which failed to meet the success of the original fantasy series.
This year, Encantadia is having a new sequel -Encantadia: The Second Saga. I haven’t heard or read any update regarding the sequels except the announcement that there will be one and this teaser preview from YouTube. Adjust the volume on the lower right corner of the player to hear the audio.
