In fairness to Globe, despite the numerous hassles I had encountered with most of their promos in the past (see Globe OFW SIMPACK and Globe Super Surf), there still remains one promo that I am continuously enjoying since its introduction. And that is the IMMORTALTXT.

Before they introduced this promo, I was an avid fan and subscriber of their UNLITXT promo. Although this has only led me to spam almost every Globe subscriber friend on my phonebook just so I could really use the promo to its fullest. But IMMORTALTXT does not. Despite the fact that it only allows you to send 50 and 10 text messages to Globe and non-Globe subscribers, respectively, those alloted SMS will not expire until you consume it all (provided that you still have P1.00 remaining balance). I only wonder whether it would expire when the promo ended.

Recently, thanks to a Sarah Geronimo’s ad on TV, I tried texting IMMORTAL15 to 8888 and, to my surprise, I got a confirmation text saying I am entitled (not only with 50 SMS to Globe numbers but also) to a five-minute call to any Globe mobile subscriber. Googling led me to Globe’s website saying this promo is called the Globe IMMORTALCALL+.

IMMORTALCALL+

There’s also the SUPERUNLI which allows Globe subscribers to unlimited call time (and text) to Globe subscribers for 5 days for only P150.00.

Before calling Globe Customer Service Hotline (211), I checked my balance by sending an SMS to 222. Below is the text confirmation I have received:

Your Account Balance as of 12/12/2009 15:25 is 41.50. You also have 15 remaining FREE texts.

I called Globe Customer Service Hotline 211 to inquire about Globe Super Surf Unlimited Mobile Internet surfing for P20.00 per day. The customer service agent informed me to have my mobile handset configured accordingly and informed me of the following instructions (for browsing Facebook website):

  1. Login to myGlobe CONNECT WAP site on your mobile browser.
  2. Log in to URL m.facebook.com.
  3. You will be redirected to a page prompting you to choose whether you want to avail of the Surf All Day Bundle which will allow you to unlimited browsing for Facebook for only P20.00 per day or use the standard TIME or KB rates.

When you choose the Surf All Day Bundle, you will receive a text confirmation and a note will appear on your mobile browser indicating that you’re browsing via one-day unlimited bundle.

I asked the Globe customer service representative whether calling 211 or browsing myGlobe CONNECT WAP site is free. She gave me affirmative answers.

Globe Super Surf

Before proceeding, I called 211 again and asked the customer service representative to re-send myGlobe CONNECT settings on my Sony Ericsson K790c handset. When I received the settings, I had it saved and over-written the previously saved settings.

I checked my balance again to make sure all the previous 211 conversations were free.

Your Account Balance as of 12/12/2009 16:25 is 41.50. You also have 15 remaining FREE texts.

So I tried and was successfully able to connect to myGlobe CONNECT using my handset. And as instructed, I keyed-in m.facebook.com on my mobile browser which redirected me to a page prompting me to choose between the unlimited and standard browsing options.

I chose to browse using the Surf All Day Bundle and I was redirected to a page saying my subscription is being process and that I will be redirected to Facebook Mobile homepage in 10 seconds.

After 10 seconds, I was redirected to the most horrifying page saying “You’re subscription has now expired.”
