How to make an origami crane

I love making origami crane and my daughter love tearing crane origami, aren’t we a perfect tandem? Japanese legends say that a person who could fold one thousand origami cranes would have his wish granted. I’m not sure if there’s a time limit to that or that you must do it in one sitting. Perhaps you could try and report to me what happens after you fold the last of the 1,000 origami cranes.

Those are two origami cranes that my daughter and I folded and played with inside the car on a rainy day.

I used to have a book showing step-by-step procedures in making origami crane in different styles – flying origami crane, standing origami crane and even tiptoeing origami crane. However, the book is now missing and even the two-page instructions that I used to keep can’t be found anywhere. Perhaps my daughter and I had folded those pages into crane origami and being our 1,000th origami crane, it came to life and erased our memories of having folded them before finally withering away.

Anyway, the internet is a vast source of information and with just a few key strokes away, you may be bombarded with millions of origami crane folding instructions in different forms – illustrated instructions, video instructions of even audio instructions (hahaha) ;-) Here’s a few origami instructions I managed to search:
