Meet Uling, the half-blood askal
According to my in-laws, Uling’s mother is a half-breed askal and half-breed something. Whatever that something is, maybe no one knows.
Uling have creamy-white fur. I called her Uling because no matter how often I give her a bath, she always have black stains all over her body. So I therefore conclude that she wanted to be given that name.
A day after I returned home from Manila, I noticed that Uling was missing. I tried searching around the house and even the whole pineapple farm with the hope that she was just trapped or sleeping somewhere. It was a failure, Uling was nowhere to be found. The laundry woman who was washing clothes that day informed us that there were too many passers by that day and maybe one of them took Uling without our knowledge.
Almost a week had passed but Uling was still missing so I thought I could just accept that we no longer have our little furball. One day, two my wife’s cousins surprisingly found Uling at a barber shop in Tagaytay market. According to them, aside from her cream fur, they knew it was Uling because when the person in the barber house saw them approaching, the man instantly turned around as if he have forgotten something behind and pretended to talking on the phone. When they started claiming the puppy, the man told them that someone just gave him the puppy, he don’t know it was stolen.
And so Uling was back in our home and as soon as she saw her bitch of a mother, she instantly grabbed her breasts.
So, Uling is back home. I gave her a bath and put her in the cage together with the other puppy. Later, when they won’t stop crying, I caged their mother with them.
